I have been with MDK since 2012. I started out working as a Paralegal in the Bankruptcy department and moved up to become a Team Lead and subsequently Assistant Manager for the department. I have worked as one of the department’s Operations Managers since 2016. It is the creativity, collaboration and innovation of many talented coworkers that makes MDK an excellent company to work for and that has kept me with the firm for close to 10 years now. I especially love my department because bankruptcy law is so multifaceted and offers many areas to expand on and learn about. Additionally, MDK’s firm motto and values resonate with my personal life in that uncommon paths are taken to lead to success. I moved from my hometown in Germany to Ohio back in 2007 to marry my husband and attend school. I have stayed ever since.
Prior to my work at MDK, I obtained my associate degree in paralegal studies from Columbus State in 2010. I then worked as Paralegal for a local debtor’s attorney firm for 3 years prior to joining MDK. While there, I learned about bankruptcy proceedings, how to prepare voluntary petitions and plans for individuals, managing an office and handling bankruptcy cases from beginning to end. To further my career and advance my managing experience, I earned my bachelor’s degree in applied management (BSc) from Franklin University and, while already working at MDK, pursued my MBA degree at Franklin University, graduating in 2013. With the help of my business management-oriented education, I have worked on refining the workflow within the Bankruptcy department at MDK and have gathered experience in analyzing work processes to create a lean work structure.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling to Germany to visit family and friends and discovering new areas and parks in and around Columbus area with my husband and two children. My favorite parks in the area are Blendon Woods Metro Park and Highbanks Metro Park. I enjoy hosting game nights with friends with a variety of board and card games, such as Splendor, Phase 10, Love Letter and Labyrinth, and snuggling up with my two cats, M and Q, whose names were inspired by James Bond characters.
