Introducing Ben Ogg, MDK’s Executive Director of Legal and Compliance. Ben is driven by a profound passion for bringing innovative solutions to the forefront, addressing compliance, legal, and operational challenges through collaborative efforts with internal and external stakeholders.

In his day-to-day responsibilities, Ben engages extensively with MDK's legal and operational teams, working to amplify production, refine efficiency, and streamline intricate procedures. In his own words, he articulates, “I have daily contact with those involved in providing legal services. I want to understand how tasks are performed; the roadblocks, nuances, and impediments; and discuss what can be done to lead to better results and higher quality legal services.”

Throughout his career, coaching and collaboration have been unifying themes, shaping his journey as both a mentor and mentee. “I have been mentored and mentored others throughout my career and see it as an avenue for growth by listening to others' life experiences and goals,” he says. Ben's greatest strengths include a keen self-awareness, allowing him to seek assistance when needed and identify strengths in his team members for effective collaboration.

Commencing his career in business litigation, Ben swiftly grasped the transformative power of early client advice in averting conflicts and financial burdens. Leveraging this background and fortifying the firm along the way, he says “I have been able to take that litigation mindset to make risk assessments related to compliance and legal matters to help support the business operations of the firm while creating excellent safeguards to high-risk areas.”

As a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association, Ben actively contributes to the legal community. Since joining MDK in 2011, he has found immense satisfaction in being part of a dynamic and diverse staff. Ben's key priorities at MDK involve continuously integrating legal and client requirements to optimize efficiency. For his contributions to the field, Ben has been recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers as a Rising Star.

Ben aspires to be known for creating a top-tier compliance program that elevates performance and productivity for the firm. His exceptional capability to comprehend and deconstruct complex legal requirements distinguishes him. Trusting in others and fostering an environment where original ideas are valued have been key to Ben's success.

Reflecting on MDK's values, Ben strongly connects with engagement, viewing it as a catalyst for creative solutions and respectful collaboration. He interprets our mission statement— 'We create uncommon paths to success for our clients and ourselves'— as emphasizing the importance of the journey, acknowledging that sometimes reevaluating the original goal can lead to more meaningful and impactful outcomes.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys cooking, playing with his bulldog, and winemaking. He emphasizes the importance of sharing these experiences with friends and family, aligning with his appreciation for a balanced and fulfilling life. In Ben's own words, "Of course, you should do all of these things with friends and family!" This sentiment reflects his approachable and collaborative spirit both within and outside the professional realm.
