Matt Richardson is a trial lawyer who deftly represents MDK’s clients in complex litigation matters. He has hands-on experience in all stages of litigation in both state and federal court, including taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, managing trial teams, and defending appeals.

Meet Matt Richardson, a distinguished Senior Attorney at MDK, based in Columbus, Ohio. With a career spanning over two decades, Matt specializes in various aspects of litigation, including defending the firm in FDCPA actions, defending mortgage servicers in consumer protection actions and defending appeals of foreclosure judgments while also prosecuting contested foreclosure actions on behalf of mortgage servicers and investors.

Your job is to be a leader and show the court the way," Matt believes, embodying this ethos in his practice. Matt's greatest strengths lie in his powers of research, analysis, writing, and persuasion in a litigation context. In his day-to-day duties, Matt typifies the role of an experienced litigator, handling a wide array of tasks with proficiency and skill. He was Editor-in-Chief of the Ohio State Law Journal and holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in English from the Ohio State University, in addition to an A.B. from Stanford University with Honors in Humanities. Matt also brings valuable experience from his clerkship for the Honorable Howell Cobb in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Beyond his professional commitments, Matt is actively involved in the legal community and beyond. He holds memberships in the Columbus Bar Association and volunteers regularly as a blood donor for the American Red Cross. He serves as a Financial Industry Regulatory Authority arbitrator, further highlighting his dedication to the legal profession and his commitment to resolving disputes fairly and efficiently.
